0014 Shooting "Little Seres" - behind the scenes

This week our "Little Seres" got in front of the camera for the first time as we shot the lookbook for Spring / Summer 2011. Whilst the results are being processed in the lab we thought we would show you how it unfolded on the day and introduce you to the brilliant team that made it happen...

We were lucky enough to be shooting with Jamie Gray, who directed us through our virgin shoot. Definitely one to watch out for, you can see more of his work here http://shootjcgray.com/, when you see the end result we're sure you will agree!

He also knows how to strike a pose too, as does his assistant Jack....

By Jamie's side was Tilly Hardy, stylist to the stars (www.tillyhardy.com/), who made sense of the collection and pulled together 14 gorgeous looks - a massive achievement for a one day shoot! She also brought the flowers to the party, well a Borne shoot wouldn't be complete without them....

Zoe Taylor (www.zoetaylor.com/) was responsible for all the on-set touching up, and created a stunning look for our Borne model - natural, raw yet beautiful hair and make-up.

Last but by no means least was our model Kat (c/o Ian at Next Model Management), who was a dream Borne girl. You'll see what she looks like, showing off our creations very soon....

0013 With butterflies in the suitcase off to Area 142.

After 2 hectic weeks finishing off our first collection, "Little seres", for Spring / Summer 2011 (plus moving house in Barcelona!!) the day came to get Wagner, Richter, Baron, Koenig, Prinz, Fuerst, Graf, Kaiser and Adel packed up and take them back to London....

Packing the suitcases it felt like butterflies had sneaked into the luggage and stomach area.....

So me, plus the "little seres", plus the butterflies flew directly to Area 142, a sales showroom in Shoreditch, that is giving Borne the great opportunity to be part of their stable of brands.

Borne is very excited!!!!!!

Our "Little seres" are now hanging next to each other on the Borne rail in Area 142, Elise still can't believe they all made the journey safely, breathing as they sit on the hanger in front of her.

0012 La familia Borne

Since we started our journey the Borne family has grown and grown, we wanted to introduce you to the special people that have made the first collection possible;

Mario - patronista

From his studio in Plaza Espanya he has proved to be a genius with patterns, as well as with cutting fabrics and being patient with all our alterations - SUPER MARIO T'ESTIMEM!!

Sylvia - patronista

Not only does she look good with a ruler but she has cut and scaled some of our most exciting patterns for the first collection!

Ana - needle master

Our samples would not look half as good if it was not for Ana and her ability to interpret our requests and handle all the changes we have thrown at her

Max - creative director

Always hard to please and never one to not have his own way, however the results are always spectacular and he knows how to put a mean outfit together

A special thanks to Encarna who is the real jefa and helped put us in touch with everyone here, and Rosa who refused to have her photo taken until she had been to the perruqueria, but managed to finish all the samples with a broken arm!

We now have our logo and Borne has its soul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After a lot of hard work we wanted to give a massive thankyou to Futureproof who have helped translate our wishes and demands into reality and have had to be very patient and super understanding!

We are massively excited about it as it perfectly captures Borne's DNA and we just can't stop branding things with our new stamp....

0010 Borne is born.

Beliefs_

Borne believes garments have soul

On the journey from idea through production each unique item is nurtured with love and passion

However it is only when the garment is worn that its character is defined

We want to pass our creations on to people who value quality and attention to detail and will care for them like we do

Borne clothes are very personal items that you feel innately comfortable in and that represent an investment, which can be worn anytime, anywher

Our designs are modern, subtle and understated, inspired by classic menswear tailoring

Origins_

Borne is the dream of Elise Berger and has its roots in Daruperstrasse No.9 in Nottuln, North-West Germany

This is where Elise’s grandfather had his workshop as a menswear tailor and where Elise spent much of her childhood falling in love with design

Elise now shares her time between London, and Barcelona where Borne garments are designed and produced

Approach_

We don’t think of our clothes existing only as a collection of pieces, but as individual items that live on their own

Therefore we will release smaller ranges more frequently so that when we create exciting new designs we can let you know straight away

The first capsule collection contains our core designs, everyday staples that capture the essence of Borne

0008 Time for some fabrics

Our first fabrics arrived yesterday, to much glee and excitement!!

And even if some of the orders weren't exactly correct this couldn't take our minds off the fact that this is actually happening!!!

Moltes gracies Toni, gracias Jrdi, danke Frau Oberholzer, thankyou Fransesc! There will be a lot more annoying phone calls in the future hopefully asking for lots and lots of production meterage!

Borne is receiving its essence...now it is time to create!
